Inland shipping

Cluster management

The rules governing shipping emissions are now stricter than ever. At the same time, shipping companies are becoming greener and their passengers more environmentally aware. For maritime and inland shipping, the dawn of this new era is full of challenges.

ELEKTRA

Coordinated by the Technical University of Berlin, the ELEKTRA project is dedicated to realising an alternative, local, zero-emission energy supply system for ships that operate on inland waterways. ELEKTRA's project brief also includes testing the system’s economic efficiency.

RiverCell2

Building on the concepts and findings of RiverCell1, Meyer Werft and its RiverCell2 partners are planning the modular hybridisation of the total energy mix using fuel cells and alternative fuels for river cruise ships.

Humphry Marine

The project by Humphry Marine GmbH is working on the development of a hybrid fuel cell/battery powertrain for speed boats with smart steering. A prototype is currently undergoing laboratory testing and optimisation.
